The eastern edge of the Bering Sea

It's amazing, really; this part of the world is covered with snow and ice for most of the year. In the spring comes the thaw, and the sun brings life to the flora and fauna of Northwest Alaska. |
The plants refuse to "give in" to the wind, and the tiniest flowers grow sideways - along the ground - until the buds lift up just enough to enjoy the long days' sunshine for the short summer months. |

There's an abundance of wildlife in this most remote place. All the creatures you would expect to find - on land or at sea - come from God Knows Where to spend time with us here.
Arctic Annie calls them her friends, 'cause they serve as good company to the long, lonely days of a prospector. |
